Comprising an artist’s book housed in a box and an installation, *de suspensio* originates from underwater video footage in which the camera’s movement follows the flow of the water, circling a submerged rock formation. As we watch, this presence appears to dance before us, establishing a silent dialogue in an attempt to grasp its form and reconstruct its volume while suspended beneath the water’s liminal surface.
The artist’s book consists of 29 screenshots taken from the video and printed on transparent acetate sheets; these create an interplay of layers that, combined, evoke the density of the underwater realm.
The installation—which engages in a dialogue with the book—features a printed fabric panel that reimagines the composition of the images used in the book. It unfolds an imaginative, dreamlike landscape devoid of density, where water seems to transform into air or sky, and vice versa. The structure supporting the fabric fosters a fluid dialogue between the material and the immaterial, oscillating between the measurable and the mutable—between the tangible and the sensory.

Anima Mundi
