Rilevare e rivelare.

Attraverso il rilevamento delle forme e della corposità della roccia lavica del monte Etna, si tenta di rivelarne la sostanza sia fisica che poetica, stabilendo un confronto con la montagna, nel percorrere il paesaggio, nell’attraversarlo oltre che osservarlo. Nell’installazione con i rotoli di carta per elettrocardiogramma, il contorno disegnato delle rocce riduce la solidità per stabilire un diverso criterio di fruizione e relazione con il paesaggio che diventa soglia. Il passaggio di stato da pieno a vuoto,   si trasforma in uno spazio senza stato, in virtù del fatto che la solidità della materia rocciosa viene svuotata della sua portata per dare spazio a due spazi di eguale fisicità.

L’installazione definitiva prevede 9 rotoli di carta ecg con i tracciati lineari del profilo di 9 porzioni di paesaggi rocciosi etnei ripresi in video che inevitabilmente rimandano anche all’attività vulcanica e alla continua trasformazione nel corso del tempo.

Nelle stampe su fogli di acetato vengono asportate alcune porzioni di paesaggio. I buchi che ne vengono fuori lo rendono quasi bidimensionale e ne suggeriscono la loro origine rilevandone l’essenza.

In this body of work we try to detect and reveal.

Through the survey of the shapes and the body of the lava rock of Mount Etna, an attempt is made to reveal its physical and poetic substance, also establishing a comparison with the mountain, an intimate relationship that derives from an experiential path, that is walking through the landscape, crossing it as well as observing and photographing it. In the installation with the rolls of paper for electrocardiograms, the drawn outline of the rocks reduces the solidity and establishes a different criterion of use and relationship with the landscape that becomes a threshold in that it is reduced to a sign, in which one can choose to place oneself equal way on one or the other side of it. In this case the passage of state from full to empty is transformed into a stateless space, by virtue of the fact that the solidity of the rocky matter is emptied of its capacity to make room for two spaces of equal physicality.

The final installation includes 9 rolls of ECG paper with the linear traces of the profile of 9 portions of Etna rocky landscapes shot on video that inevitably also refer to volcanic activity and continuous transformation over time.

In the prints on acetate sheets there are some details of mountain landscape from which some portions are removed and in which the background is canceled. The holes that come out of it on the one hand make these portions of the landscape almost two-dimensional, on the other, by virtue of the lack, they suggest their origin by revealing their essence and original presence there and in that moment. A subjective moment that is returned to the viewer indicating its presence, subsistence or immanence.
